18. too old to start learning ballet?

ive always held a secret desire to be a ballet dancer, but never actually done anything to pursue this.

i did ballet when i was 6 years old for a year, but because my mum always whinged about the teacher, i gave it up to please her.

now im older, and with deep regrets for what i could have achieved, had i continued, im wondering if its too far gone to take up the craft?

is there a time when your becomes untrainable?

it is absolutely never too late to take up ballet!!

it is extremely unlikely that you will every become a professional ballet dancer...but you most definitely can be a wonderful recreational dancer if you work hard...as an young adult you will find it easier to remember steps and combinations and should be able to pick ballet up fairly easily...if you have not done any other dancing before you may have difficulty with flexibility but with work you should steadily imrpove....i say you are never too old to do something you believe you will love...so go for it!!!

have fun!!!

[i am not a ballet nor experiencd ballet dancing]

ok. i think it is not bad to learn ballet at 18. at least you have a little background about it. it may take time for practice and further training. i hope you still have good bones and body condition for the excercises later on.

give it a try again. it is not too late.:D
no, but too old to do it on your toes
definitely not
never too old to learn to dance.
I think you can do whatever you put your mind to no matter what age you are. So if you want to be a ballet dancer then go for it.
NOT AT ALL GIRL!!!

Go for it and be the best ballet dancer out there! Do whatever you want to and don't let your age or anyone stop you!

You go girl! Good luck!

YOU ARE NEVER TO OLD!!!

I understand how you must feel but hun, if its something you want GO FOR IT!!! Regret should be you motive. It is indeed a little late in your life to start but that only means you should try harder not that you shouldn't try at all!! I say, go to that dance class and show 'em whatcha got!!

Hope I helped HAPPY DANCING!!!
hey it's not to late to start ballet classes but f you are really serious and want ot maybe make it into American School of Ballet it might be to late but you never know
You are not too old at all because at my dance school there are people that started late but if they put their mind to it and really try and be the best then they are almost as good as people who have been taking it for a while
you are not too old to learn and most likely you will even be able to do pointe. will you become a pro, probally not. there are many adult classes out there now, where i dance i asked my friend the owner why were there adult classes, there are a lot of people out there like you that have always just wanted to learn ballet. so i have see people in their 30's that are just starting. ballet would be hard for someone that is 50 or 60, but i don't really think there is an age limit.
It is not too late, but it will be a lot harder then if you had started when you were younger, but it is very possible.

You can always be trained it will just take more determination and time. I would suggest that if you are going to start again, do it soon, and work on your balance, without it, you are not going to go very far, but I believe that you can do anything you put your mind too with enough practice and determination. Go for it!
I have danced since I was 6 and it's my dream I absolutely LOVE it! if u want to learn find a teacher near u and schedule a meeting it will be hard but go for it you never know until u try! but piece of advice before you start u need to be in shape and flexible! just don't give up! best of luck!
it is nt possible, but highly discouraged. the teacher too, may nt accept you as a student. because u see, in ballet, techniques r kinda important n u gotta have that foundation. it will b a LOT harder. so i suggest mayb u just dance ballet for fun? as in, don't take the exams. n also, if u're dancing with the RAD, they wun allow u to take exams whn u haf nvr taken ur foundation exams.
ballet dosen't need to be secret, you do know that right? you can start at any age as long as you can do physical activity

just remember to always do your best and never let it get in the way
I think you would be fine because you had previous training and probably rember most of the things you learned andat most studios there are class for every level for every age and you don't have to perform if you don't want too
I think you should just go for it...You seem like you really really want to do it so why not? Dont let age get between you and your dreams!!
I think you should do it because you don't know what you can achieve. You don't want to live with that "what if." It will be a challenge, but if you stick with it you will feel such a large sense of accomplishment.

I started ballet when I was 18 and I am still dancing. I feel so much better having started at all than never dancing.

Good Luck!
no,you're not too old to do ballet.but i've gotta tell you the truth.you are not going to be a professional dancer.it is just too late!but dance away while you can!
not old at all I started when i was in my 20's.

Go for it
