Thinking about trying ballet.?

I have been thinking about trying ballet, for fun and to stay in shape, what do you think?

I am male 25 years old 5'11" 195lbs

Am I too old to learn? How much weight would I need to lose if any? Do you think it would be akward as a male?

Beginner classes for adults?

Boy thats a lot.....phew

Thinking about trying ballet.?say yes

Usally the age is started at a younger age, but anything is possiable! I love to see more males every year dance! Keep in mind Ballet has strict diet rules and such its demanding on the body and takes tons of practice!

Thinking about trying ballet.?palace theatre opera theater

I think it is a great idea...you will be in demand even as a student. You will have great fun! I enjoy being around all the creative artsy people and the type of people they attract... dancers, actors/actresses, writer, musicians, artists etc..

Don't get hung up about the gender issue. It is very masculine... are you kidding? The weight has to do with body type and height/weight proportion. You will settle out and find/learn your correct space.

Do it....I hope you have a great time!
It's never too late to learn! I had and instructor who didn't dance until he was in college and actually went pro a few years later, he's now a ballet master at a contemporary ballet company.

You should definitely try ballet. It is a great way to stay in shape and a great way to meet others that have similar interest. Don't worry about your age, weight, or gender. Lots of dance schools have adult beginner classes and make sure you look for just that. Ask if you can observe a class you'll see that all sorts of people taking the class. Hope this helps you out !
dance is for any shape, any size any age any level, i take dance they have kid, teen adult and even senior classes and all levels! pilates is a great way to stay in shape and even out flexibility and strength on both sides.
1. as a male dancer, any studio will snatch you up for classes.

2. never too old to learn, and youre smart to recognize the health benefits, at the very least, of dancing at your age.

3. hard to say with the weight thing, but it doesnt matter. do what you enjoy

4. call local studios and see what they offer
youre pretty good to go. you just need some weight training(reccomended) and to be prepared for some strenuous activity. and make sure you get a "belt".(look it up)and try to avoid white tights....hope that helped!
First of all, you do not need to lose any weight! Any body shape can do ballet.

And yes, you can start now. They do have adult classes. College programs and ballet schools also offer colleges. You might try looking into your local community college. My community college offered ballet classes.

The thing to remember is do what you want to do and what you love. Don't worry about what everyone else thinks. In essence, isn't that what dancing is all about? Loving what you do and not caring about harsh opinions? :) Good luck!

(and no, no strength training or any is required, although being fit in anyway can help. You will feel your butt and thighs sore though!)
