Hey all you ballet people out there!! what's the deal with the obsession w/ feet arches?

i just started ballet, and got a catalog, and there are all these sock type things and well, 'arch enhancers' w/ before and after photos. what gives?

Ballet is all about striving to achieve perfection and the "perfect" ballet body includes a slender body, perfect turnout, long neck, and high insteps and high arches. 180 degree turn out can be worked on to become perfect but it is almost impossible to build up your insteps. Therefore, there are these types of products that claim to make your feet look more professional and prettier.

it's so your feet don't swell on your t-squares or ache. Plus, better leg posture.
There are already looks obsessed people out there, why not feet obsessed people? I mean ballet does deal with feet so why can't they be preoccupied with "perfect"feet?
