What do i wear to a ballet class?

i'm 15 and recently signed up for a ballet class at the college on a whim, except i was wondering what do i wear for ballet class?

If it's a class offered by the college's dance program (as in, this is university level and these people are majoring in dance), then go for the whole ballet look: white or pink tights, black leotard, hair in a bun and ballet flats. The way to tell this will be: are you already an accomplished dancer?

If it's an open to the community type thing (which seems much more likely), wear comfortable clothing (loose enough that you can move, but not baggy enough to obscure your body) and probably sneakers (which you might end up taking off so you can dance in your socks or bare feet).

You can get in touch with the instructor somehow (check the website or enrollment booklet or whatever, and see what he or she would prefer, or you can wait until the first class. They'll tell you what they want then, and where you can buy the stuff (if they want you to wear flats and a leotard). No one will expect you to be perfect for the first class.

leotard

tights/leggings

legwarmers

ballet slippers

.... every dance studio and ballet teacher are different they should let you know how to dress for class.
In a beginner beginner class its perfectly acceptable to wear loose fitting clothing and socks or ballet flats.

I prefer at any level to wear a leotard and tights with flats.

On your first day see what the other girls are wearing. I would suggest the top outfit I suggested and buy the leotard if everyone else is wearing one.

Good Luck.

www.discountdance.com is the best for dance clothes btw
a bun, pink tights, and black leotard! and pink ballet shoes
if it's a serious ballet class, tights, leotard, shorts, maybe a tight fitting tank and ballet shoes.

if it's an informal class, dance pants, a tank and some ballet shoes would be just fine.

have fun!
Capezio black leotard and capizio ballet pink tights. Thats what I wear.
you should wear a leotard and tights, you can also wear a ballet skirt over the leotard to feel more comfortable. Ballet shoes are a must, but be sure to get the right size, not too big or too small!
If you want to go fashionably, it's very popular to wear black tights with shorts or a skirt over them %26amp; also leggings.

Also a tank is good 'cause you might get hot.

But it's never wrong to wear pe clothes.

It's just better to have fitted clothing so you won't trip over your feet or anything.
If you're a guy, wear a dance belt %26amp; nothing else.
The teacher should be able to see the line of your body, so loose fitting clothes are not recommended. Usually black leotard and pink tights are protocol, but since it is a college coarse, sometimes the teachers are cool and will let you wear capri dance pants or something. They will let you know though on the first day... It should be on the syllabus.
