What level in ballet should I be at when I'm 16?

What is the norm? I want to join the School of American Ballet when I turn 16. What level do they expect you to be when you're 16?? Thanks!

At 16, they would expect you to be at an advanced level of Balanchine technique. But in addition, they would expect you to have an ideal ballet body and able to achieve optimal turn-out.

pointe, also excellent body shape, strength, %26amp; technique. you may want to ask your teacher for exercises %26amp; resistance training to strengthen %26amp; enlongate your muscle tone.
i have no idea
Very, very close to prima ballerina.
pretty much whatever studio/school you are at right now... you should be the best one there (of your level anyway). i would recommend taking a summer intensive at ABT, if you haven't yet. they will be able to give you pointers and also a pretty honest answer to your question, like if you have a chance or not. if you go to the intensive (go to the one in NY even though they have them all over), you will be placed in a level... higher levels mean more of a chance at getting in, but it is also dependent on age... if you are ten you are going to get into a younger level. anyway, the people there will be able to judge your dancing and it helps SOO much to get versatile training, especially from ABT! this is a great goal, i hope you achieve it! even if you dont get into ABT stick with dancing!
You did not mention your age.... Any professional school will expect you to be at VERY high levels before they will even consider you. Competition among female dancers is murderous and you will have to be at almost professional levels to go anywhere. Good Luck
there is not likely to be a set standard

my studio doesn't have levels so i don't totally know what your taking about

everyone will be a different place
