is there a dance that has ballet and hip hop in it. is there a type of dance and what is it called?

The closest I can think would be commercial jazz. It uses ballet technique, but some hip hop moves are thrown in.

the one you are looking for is jazz. i think you should try ballet. i must warn you though... if you choose ballet it is very fun if you have the heart for it but is is very difficult. just try it though. it is really fun when you get into it. but if you don't have enough time to work on technique i would choose either jazz or hip hop.
i say both because hip hop gives you rhythm and ballet teaches you technique and poise and gives you strength.
No i dont think there would be a dance combined because they are both 2 totally different styles.. i have seen like ballet and jazz but not hip hop.. but you never know..
you could try jazz. it has some of both. mostly technique based from ballet, but depending on the song, it may have some hip-hop like qualities. or lyrical is cool, but there's not really any hip-hip... but its cool
some studios offer "combination classes" where its like you have 20 min of jazz, hip hop, and ballet all rolled into a one hour class. it is fun for people who just want to get fit and aren't looking for serious ballet training, but if you want to seriously commit this is not the place to go for ballet training. if you want to train for ballet you should find a studio that trains their students for ballet primarily. best of luck !
probably not because they're such different styles. i suppose jazz is kinda like the two of them combined. i'd suggest seeing if maybe your studio will let you try out a class in hiphop, ballet, and jazz for free just once to see which you like best. then after trying them all out you can see for yourself which class(es) you want to take. if that's not an option you could also see about just watching the classes.
